Postcode Lottery Overview
Launched on 31st August 2005, People’s Postcode Lottery is a subscription-based lottery, run by Postcode Lottery Limited. Participants have a chance to win every day by entering their postcode into prize draws.
For every ticket sold, 33% goes to charities. Players have raised more than £500 million for good causes.
In order to enter, players must sign up for their subscription by Direct Debit. They can choose to do this online or by telephone. You can sign up for up to three tickets and each ticket costs £12 per month. Every single ticket plays in all draws and can win prizes every day.
Prizes
With the Postcode Lottery, there is more than one way in which you can win:
Daily Prizes - Twenty postcodes are drawn daily and a £1,000 prize is awarded to each ticket in these postcodes. In case a participant has multiple subscriptions, they would receive £1,000 for each ticket they play.
Weekly Prizes - Every Saturday, one postcode is drawn. Each player with that postcode wins a share of £1,000,000.
Street Prizes - Every Sunday, every ticket in one lucky postcode gets a £30,000 Street Prize. Moreover, every weekend, thousands of tickets also win £15 and £10 prizes.
Postcode Millions - Every month, tickets in one postcode sector share a £3 million prize pot. The prize amount depends on whether the player matches all or some of the winning postcode, as well as the number of tickets they entered with.
For most of the draws, you need to match your postcode with the winning code exactly. The Postcode Millions draw is the exception from this rule, as you can win even if you only get a partial match. The more characters you match, the larger a share of the prize fund you will receive.
In case you have a winning postcode for the Street Prize draw, and you entered with one ticket, you will win £30,000. However, if you played with two tickets, you get £60,000 and if you played with three tickets, you get to take home £90,000.
A postcode can only be drawn if at least one person enters it. For example, if no one in the AB12 1CD area is subscribed, then the postcode cannot win. This means that winners are guaranteed to win every day.
